2007 On Demand show set for April 16–19 at Boston Convention & Expo Center
The On Demand Conference and Exposition, the world’s leading digital printing conference and exposition encompassing all the technologies used to create, manage, personalize, print and deliver content, opens Monday, April 16 at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center and continues through Thursday, April 19.

As in the last few years, the show is paired with a similar conference and expo for the Association for Information and Image Management Conference and Expo. That event is considered the largest enterprise content and information management event showcasing the technologies and solutions that align content and business processes in order to drive performance. Both events will occur simultaneously at the new Boston convention center in South Boston.

The AIIM and On Demand Conferences & Expos is the world’s leading digital printing conference and exposition, encompassing all the technologies used to create, manage, personalize, print and deliver content.

“The success of the Expos demonstrates the critical importance of this industry. Our impressive lineup of keynote speakers, sponsors, compelling conference programs and showcase of innovative technology solutions demonstrate that this is a ‘must-attend’ event for professionals involved in the dynamic worlds of enterprise content management and digital printing technology,” said Kerry Gumas, president and chief executive officer of Questex.

“On Demand is about more than print on demand technology, management and strategy” said Keri Dostie, event director for Questex Media Group, the show organizer. “The show offers insight into the future of the printing industry by experts who have been at the forefront of the printing business for many years.”

New location
On Demand was moved to the new Boston Convention & Exposition Center for this year and 2008 after a successful two-year run in Philadelphia. Prior to that, the show was held in New York City for several years. The very strong print buying audience in Boston and surrounding New England states was one reason to move the show to the economic heart of New England.

According to an annual statistical analysis by economics department of Printing Industries of America/ Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, more than $12 billion in printed good is manufactured and shipped from print service providers throughout the region.

The same statistical analysis, compiled in PIA/GATF’s annual Print Market Atlas, ranks Boston as the nation’s fourth largest consolidated metropolitan marketplace in terms of the value of printed shipments. In 2005, Boston print service providers produced and shipped $5.3 billon in printed material trailing only New York City, $13.8 billion; Chicago, $9.4 billion; and Los Angeles at $8.1 billion.

While PIA/GATF’s Print Market Atlas does not identify how many printers utilize digital printing technology as their primary manufacturing method, there is no doubt the region’s printers have adopted the burgeoning technology. Several area printers in fact are participating as panelists and other speaking venues in the multitude of seminars and program offerings at On Demand.

Conference program
The On Demand conference program attracts leading-edge digital printing and publishing executives in search of market data and information that can’t be found elsewhere — information that can be used to make informed strategic decisions.

Last year’s conference addressed key topics that are now generating considerable attention both within the industry and beyond. This year’s conference program will build upon previous research, deliberations, debates, and discussions, focusing again on how the industry can leverage transformation for continued success.

With more than 40 sessions, the On Demand conference program offers data and insights to address the most critical business challenges. Speakers will discuss and examine the key growth applications, technologies and opportunities and how to incorporate them into business strategies.

Session topics will include new market opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, value-added services, color inkjet technologies, Web-to-print, light production technologies, packaging & labeling, color management, pricing trends and strategies, paper and substrates, marketing automation and transpromotional documents.

In just five years, ING Direct has become the country’s largest Internet-based bank, its fourth-largest thrift bank, and one of the 30 largest banks of any sort.

The ING Direct story is not about banking. It’s about a new approach to business strategy and the power of disruptive ideas. It is a story that has valuable lessons for virtually any business audience, and it is one told with incredible verve, energy, humor and intelligence.
