George H. Dean Company acquires R.S. Rowe & Company, Inc.
Deal expands Dean’s service, expertise and customer base; company adds six employees
The George H. Dean Company, a Braintree, Mass.-based financial printing and graphic communications firm, has acquired R.S. Rowe & Company, Inc., a smaller financial printing and typesetting services company also in Braintree that has served the area for nearly 40 years.

“Jack Rowe and his team bring years of experience and dedication serving the banking and financial communities,” said Ken Michaud, president of George H. Dean. “Jack’s business is a natural fit with ours and the mix will further the diversification of our customer base as we continue to offer more integrated services.”

R.S. Rowe’s services include typesetting, EDGAR filing and printing of corporate annual, semi-annual and quarterly reports, proxy statements and official statements. Customers include commercial and investment banks, insurance and financial service companies and publicly and privately held firms.

“The decision to partner with George H. Dean Company was based on two very important groups of people — my employees and my clients,” said Jack Rowe, president of R.S. Rowe & Company. “George H. Dean Company has welcomed my very loyal employees into their family. That fact, along with their total commitment to personal service and their added resources, will be a big win for my clients.”

Michaud said the acquisition includes six R.S. Rowe employees, two in typesetting and EDGAR services, two to work in a copy center, one customer service representative, and Rowe who will work in sales.

“We bought several; small pieces of equipment as well, and our copying reproduction services will increase five-fold and give us more flexibility in financial printing that requires short-run fast-turn response,” Michaud said. “We have set up a separate production area to help handle this work efficiently.

“Jack is joining us as vice president of financial printing. He brings a different customer base that will mix well with ours. Our additional services will greatly benefit his customers,” Michaud added.

With the acquisition, George H. Dean now has 79 full-time employees.
