Sappi mill in Maine earns environmental management certification
Sappi Fine Paper North America’s Somerset Mill in Skowhegan, Maine, has received an environmental stamp of approval for the processes it uses to manufacture coated paper and pulp. This certification reflects Sappi’s commitment to environmental responsibility, discipline and self awareness.

The approval came in the form of an ISO14001:2004 certificate, an internationally accepted standard used to demonstrate an organization’s commitment to the environment. From the thorough, two-stage auditing process that began at Somerset Mill in November 2003, the organization was able to show implementation of the Environmental Management System across all functions of Somerset operations.
