AmPrint Inc.
sells assets to Allied Printing Services A. James Roberts, who was president and co-owner of AmPrint, said Allied
purchased the customer list, some equipment, and will open a production
facility in nearby Marlborough, Mass. staffed with many of AmPrint’s
former employees. “Dave was playing golf with a sales rep from Allied Printing, and one thing led to another, and we decided to sell,” Roberts said. “It was a combination of factors that led to the sale, but what was most important to us as owners were our employees and our customers. “Allied has assured us both will be taken care of,” Roberts
said. All but three of AmPrint’s employees will join Allied at
the Marlborough facility. Roberts will join the firm as a sales representative
and continue to service the clients from AmPrint. He said AmPrint reached a level of $5 million to $6 million in annual gross sales before the economic slowdown of 2000 and that was compounded by the events and effects of Sept. 11, 2001. “We’ve gotten back to about a $3 million level in annual sales , but we thought the timing was good.” Allied Printing is an ISO 9001 certified printing company with multiple sheetfed and heatset web printing capability. Its published equipment list includes eight sheetfed presses, three heatset web presses. The company operates three production shifts and has an electronic prepress department, and full-service in-house bindery and mailing and fulfillment department. The company maintains sales offices in Boston in New York. No one from Allied was available to comment on the asset purchase. |
