PINE members urge Congressional leaders to pass postal reform
Meet with Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, Rep. Sanders of Vermont
Three executives from two New England printing and graphic communications firms led the effort last month to meet with key members of Congress to stress to them the need for federal postal reform legislation and the impact of the legislation on the printing industry.

A contingent representing New England’s printing industry included Stephen Spenlinhauer, Dennis Savitsky, president and chief operating officer respectively of Spencer Press in Wells, Maine, Richard Cote, owner of Focal Technical in North Hampton, N.H. and Jim Tepper, president of Printing Industries of New England.

The Spencer Press executives and Tepper met with Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, and Rep. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Cote joined the group for a meeting with the chief legislative aide to Sen. John Sununu of New Hampshire. PINE staff also met with legislative aides of Massachusetts representatives Stephen Lynch and John Tierney during the annual Legislative Conference hosted by Printing Industries of America.

“The meetings were very successful,” Tepper said. “Members of Congress got to hear first-hand from printers how the operations of the postal service has such a critical impact on our industry.”
