Matheson Higgins/Congress Press upgrades stamp press
Specialty printer prepares for busy holiday season
Matheson Higgins/Congress Press, a graphic arts finisher in Woburn, Mass., has recently upgraded one of its presses, the Nikko Hot Star HS 80.

The Hot Star is one of MH/CP’s 11 foil stamping and embossing presses. It has a maximum sheet size of 21 by 31-inches and prints 3,500 to 6,500 sheets per hour making it the firm’s fastest press for larger runs and quick turnarounds.

The press upgrade consisted of adding an air foil blaster with 30 independently controlled nozzles. As a result, the Hot Star can now produce a higher quality of foil stamping for large solids and also for fine type.

“With these upgrades, we’re able to run difficult jobs at higher speeds then we had in the past, offering our customers quicker turnaround and more competitive pricing,” said company President Jay Smith. “The timing is perfect for upcoming foil stamped holiday projects, like greeting cards, boxes and point of purchase displays.”

Matheson Higgins/Congress Press has been serving printers and designers since 1925. Their full range of finishing services includes foil stamping, embossing, engraving, die cutting, mounting and other specialty finishing.
