Concord Litho Group completes $1.6 million upgrade in bindery
Installs Heidelberg Polar cutter
Concord Litho Group, a commercial printing company in Concord, N.H., has installed a large format Heidelberg Polar 155 XT cutter to its bindery operations. The purchase completes the initial investment in the company’s new in-house bindery established 18 months ago.

“This latest edition to our bindery will enable the company to trim virtually every size product that we produce and is the perfect complement to our 64-inch printing capabilities which encompass everything from large format point of purchase displays to greeting cards,” said Concord Litho Chief Executive Officer Peter Cook. “Our customers previously identified large-cutting capabilities as an important offering to have in-house, and this purchase addresses that need.”

Concord Litho Group, which for 44 years had outsourced its off-line bindery needs, established the in-house operation in September 2002. The company invested over $1.6 million in the new operation and added 30 new positions. This investment adds high-speed cutting, folding, and saddlestitching capabilities to the company’s extensive in-line heat set web finishing capabilities.

The new Polar 155 cutter will be fully operational by June.

Established in 1958, Concord Litho Group is one of the largest independent printers in the United States. It offers a variety of products and services for the non-profit, retail, publishing, telecommunications, tourism, and pharmaceutical industries. Clients include AOL/Time Warner, Verizon, and the American Heart Association.
