Ten danger signs of short-term thinking
By John Graham
The evidence continues to pile up that most of the nation’s businesses
are focused on short-term results. With boards, management, investors
and analysts ready to strike if the numbers are “right,” it’s
no wonder that everyone seems focused on immediate results. (More)
When sales people fail, blame management
By Landy Chase
I have a question for you business executives: Who’s responsible
for the behavior — and professionalism — of your sales people
in the marketplace? If they don’t represent you in the way you would

Tech workers of the future:
Do we hire, retrain, or invent?
By Brian P. Lawler

documents and want us to be their partners in creating flexible coding
of data so that documents can be reformatted for delivery to the next
digital devices that arrive on the scene — cellular phones, perhaps?
All of these demands mean — potentially — more business for
the graphic arts industry, but where (oh where!) do we find the kind of
workers that we will need to carry out these Flash Gordon tasks in the
coming years?
Revolutionary PDF RIPs:
The field becomes more interesting and affordable
By Ron Ellis
PDF RIPs have been around for years, and are now used successfully by
a number of printing and graphic firms. The PDF world is evolving however,
and right now there are a number of new PDF RIPs poised to hit the market.
These new RIPs may completely change the market forever. Part of the reason
is workflow. They are simple and easy to use. So easy, that if you are
used to traditional RIPs they will seem almost deceptively simple. Another
big reason is price.
